A fire in Birmingham city centre has resulted in up to 70 firefighters attending the scene of an incident in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The blaze has broken out on MacDonald Street in the Highgate area. People have been advised to avoid the area, with motorists also warned due to road closures.
The location of the incident has not been disclosed but images released by West Midlands Fire Service suggests it is near alcoholic beverage wholesaler HT Drinks, which is based at the junction between MacDonald Street, Alcester Street, Adelaide Street and Charles Henry Street.
Up to 70 firefighters are trying to contain the fire, using “two specialist aerial appliances” according the service.
A post on their official Twitter account at 5.21am read: “Incident currently in progress Macdonald Street, Highgate. 70 Firefighters are currently working with 2 specialist aerial appliances.
“Avoid the area if possible due to road closures. Keep windows and doors closed in the area.”
