TUI set to launch beer and wine theme voyages on river cruise programme

Beer and wine-themed cruises are among a range of river holidays unveiled by the UK’s largest tour operator.

TUI River Cruises will operate a series of themed itineraries lasting between four and seven days on the Rhine.

The winter sailings on 155-berth TUI Maya feature onboard events, food and drink, guest speakers and shore excursions.

A seven-night Wine on the Rhine cruise departs from Frankfurt on October 31 and includes seven ports of call Rudesheim, Boppard, Koblenz, Speyer, Breisach and Mainz, all Germany, and Strasbourg, France.

Passengers will be able to choose from nine wine-based shore excursions, including a visit to a vineyard and winery that has produced bottles since 1846 and a half-day trip to try Alsatian wines in the town of Obernai.

There is also a shorter four-night version of the Wine on the Rhine itinerary, departing on November 20. Three shore excursions will be available to passengers on the mini Wine on the Rhine sailing.

A beer-themed cruise – called Rhine & Stein – will begin in Frankfurt and include ports in Germany and the Netherlands. It will include tastings and brewery visits.

A six-night Dancing on the Rhine voyage is also due to set sail from Frankfurt on November 7 with stops at Rudeshieim, Boppard, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Bonn and Koblenz, in Germany.

Dance lessons will be included in the onboard entertainment programme.

The cruises will form part of the winter programme which also includes six Christmas and New Year itineraries running from late October to January 2022.
