A teenager was knifed in Inverclyde as police probe an early-morning stabbing.
The 18-year-old man was found seriously injured in Greenock’s Drumfrochar Road early on Saturday morning.
Police were called to the scene at around 4am.
The man suffered serious head and back injuries.
He was rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
Police told the Record his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
No further details were disclosed on the victim’s current medical condition.
Officers soon launched a probe into the stabbing.
Any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident are being urged to come forward.
Police stressed that information can be passed on anonymously.
A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: “We received a report that a teenage boy had been stabbed and was found injured on Drumfrochar Road, Greenock, around 4am on Saturday, 3 July.
“The 18-year-old was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital with serious head and back injuries, although they are not believed to be life threatening.
“Enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with any information or who witnessed anything suspicious around the Drumfrochar Road area should contact us on 101, quoting incident number 0663 of July 3.
“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
