Martin Lewis has issued an urgent piece of advice to anyone whose energy supplier has gone bust.
He said there was one important thing to do as he appeared for the new series of The Martin Lewis Money Show: Live on ITV tonight.
Gas prices are set to undergo a huge hike on October 1 after rapid rises in the wholesale price.
Six energy suppliers have already gone bust and the money saving expert warned there would be more firms who would fall victim.
He said experts have predicted that around 25 firms will go under, adding that “there may only be 10 or less energy firms left” if prices continue to rise.
He urged anyone who has had their energy supplier go bust to do one thing – take screengrabs of their accounts to show if there account is in credit.
Martin said: “Go get your screengrabs – and do it every week while we’re still in the midst of this crisis.
“Take a screengrab of how much credit you have etc…keep records.”
He added that energy suppliers that had gone bust would soon take their websites down, leaving customers unable to access records.
