Every rule Love Island stars must follow

Love Island has arrived and the 2021 series is finally here, with 11 contestants now in the villa after the late arrival of a contestant before the debut episode concluded last night.

The ITV2 reality TV series is being filmed in Majorca for the next two months once again, with Laura Whitmore hosting.

Five couples are happily together in the villa as it stands – but will heads be turned? We reckon so.

Before the show started, stars had to sign contracts – and some of the rules they need to follow will surprise you.

BirminghamLive has taken a look at them below:

Contestants must agree that all footage taken of them during their time on the show is usable.

Contestants also agree not to be rude or participate in any sort of aggressive behaviour.

Those taking part can have no visible branding – and must also NOT sign pre-show brand deals, or promote specific clothing ranges.

Drugs are strictly prohibited.

Those heading into the villa must disclose any STI/STD they have had.

Counselling sessions are laid on for Love Island contestants after their exit – as well as psychiatric evaluations beforehand.

Love Island stars must bring their own wardrobe. No clothes are laid on for them.

Hate speech – including racism and homophobia – will result in being kicked out.

Some viewers think the trend looks uncomfortable

Contestants are told to practice safe sex only.

Love Island stars are not on social media. If you see them tweeting or posting to the ‘Gram, it is likely a close pal or family member or rep.

Contestants do not strictly have to apply. Some stars in the past have actually been approached by bosses.

Bed time and wake up times are enforced – and there’s no clocks in the villa, either.

Showers are scheduled – and in fact, the timings have changed from the mornings to the evenings.

Breakfast is not catered but the rest of the meals are. Stars will have to make the first meal of the day themselves.

Love Island stars will do their own beauty treatments, including hair and makeup. No stylists.
