Aston Villa fans ‘surprised’ by £15m Curtis Jones links

Aston Villa fans have said that they would be “surprised” if they sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones before the end of the transfer window.

Jones is the latest name to be linked with a move to Villa Park with the Sun claiming that Dean Smith is ready to make an enquiry for the Liverpool youngster.

The report states that the 20-year-old is ‘wanted’ by Villa who are ready to test Liverpool’s resolve and are willing to pay around £15 million for the player.

Jones has not yet fully established himself in the first-team picture at Liverpool and was left out of the matchday squad for the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday.

The report comes after Villa made summer moves for Emile Smith Rowe and James Ward-Prowse before both players put pen-to-paper on new deals with Arsenal and Southampton respectively.

Jones has played a total of 47 times for Liverpool’s first team, since making his debut in the FA Cup back in 2019.

Amid the link, Villa fans have taken to social media to give their view, with many saying they’ll be “surprised” to see Liverpool cash in on their academy graduate.

Here is what just some had to say…

Adz : Good player but is he what we need? You always need good players I suppose. Doubt Liverpool would sell him at that price though.

MagicMerse : Quality youngster but would rather we developed Carney tbh

Aaron Bourne : I’ll be surprised if the rumours around this are true, be shocked that Liverpool would sell him when he has already shown he has lots of potential but this would be a good signing if we manage to pull it off.

Regan : Quality young lad but I cannot see it happening.

Kevin Hughes : 1. If Liverpool let Jones go, I’ll be surprised. 2. If they get him go for £15m, I’ll be amazed. Unless he’s out of contract next year, not a chance.

James : Let’s sign someone else’s youngster to block the progress of ours, makes zero sense and isn’t what we need.

Pete : Can’t see this one happening. Plus with Liverpool you could probably double that fee before they talk.
