Frustrated Ronaldo considering Old Trafford exit

Plenty more speculation regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United future this morning.

After no shortage of uncertainty regarding his place in Erik ten Hag’s rebuild, it had seemingly been confirmed that he would remain at Old Trafford for at least another season.

However, Portuguese outlet Record now claim that Ronaldo is ready to consider leaving United due to a perceived lack of ambition on the transfer front.

The Red Devils missed out to Liverpool on Benfica marksman Darwin Nunez and have yet to make a single signing so far this summer, despite talks over the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Antony, Jurrien Timber and Malcolm Ebiowei.

Chelsea could hijack Man United’s Antony move

Chelsea could rival Manchester United in the race to sign Ajax winger Antony.

The Brazilian international is a key target for new Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag as he seeks to drastically overhaul the squad in his first summer in charge.

United have already held talks over a reunion between the pair in Manchester, though it was said they will not advance any other transfers until they strike an agreement in their long-running talks with Barcelona over top target Frenkie de Jong.

90min.com now reports that Chelsea also met with Antony’s agents during their recent trip to the UK as they seek to revamp their attack under Todd Boehly and Thomas Tuchel.

ICMYI – Juventus demand huge money for De Ligt

Chelsea are interested in a move for Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, reports Sky Sports.

The defender has a €120million release clause in his Juventus contract though and the Serie A club would demand a fee close to that figure.

Chelsea are not prepared to spend that much on De Ligt, so they would be relying on the centre-back to show an interest in leaving to try and force the price down.

ICYMI – Spence keen on Premier League move

Djed Spence has told Middlesbrough he wants to leave, manager Chris Wilder confirmed yesterday.

Tottenham are keen to bring the wing-back to the club this window, with fresh talks between the clubs expected to take place.

Wilder told BBC Radio Tees Sport: “Well we want the going rate. The negotiators, with my input, we’ve set a price and a fair price. We don’t want to hold anybody back.

“Djed has made it clear that he wants to go play in the Premier League, he’s earned that opportunity which he has done.

“You cannot get away from the fact that he’s had an incredible season and with that comes interest but it has to be at that right price.

“If that happens then I’m sure we’ll all walk away happy with the deal.”
