The Northern Irish star, who will soon be seen alongside Cush Jumbo in Hamlet at The Young Vic, was just one of the night’s winners which also included prizes for sporting heroes in the shape of England manager Gareth Southgate, presented with an Inspiration of the Year award by Gary Lineker, and an Outstanding Achievement award for Team GB and Paralympics GB.
The event, held at Tate Modern in association with BOSS, was hosted by actor and musician Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina.
Also recognised were Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert, Professor Catherine Green and the team behind the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine who were honoured with the heroes of the year award.
The team was recognised on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, with Prof Gilbert made a dame after helping mastermind the new vaccine and Prof Green awarded an OBE for services to science and public health.
On the night, Paul Weller presented Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie with the Outstanding Contribution award while The Crown star Emma Corrin presented Harris Reed with the Breakthrough Designer award.
Ed Sheeran was named Solo Artist of the Year while Quentin Tarantino won Writer of the Year.
Arlo Parks was named Breakthrough Music Artist of the Year, Brunello Cucinelli won Designer of the Year while industry veteran Dame Vivienne Westwood was named Game Changer of the Year and accepted her award from Chrissie Hynde.
Sacha Baron Cohen took the Icon award, while James Norton presented Sir Anthony Hopkins with the Legend award.
Other winners include Wolf Alice, named Band of the Year, Kingsley Ben-Adir who was presented with the Breakthrough Actor of the Year award and Wanda Vision actor Paul Bettany who was named Leading Man of the Year.
Among the guests were Piers Morgan, singer Ellie Goulding, model Winnie Harlow and television presenter Alex Scott.
Radio DJs Clara Amfo and Nick Grimshaw and Love Island host Laura Whitmore also posed for pictures on the red carpet ahead of the event in central London.
