Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly concerned over Manchester United’s transfer business under new manager Erik ten Hag and is considering quitting Old Trafford while the club are yet to make a signing
The 37-year-old wants to help the Red Devils get back to the glory days under new manager Erik ten Hag but is concerned by the fact United are yet to make a signing since the summer window opened. Portuguese outlet Record claim that Ronaldo believes in the attacking football Ten Hag wants to play but his club’s struggles in the market are putting him on the verge of a ‘nervous breakdown’.
Having spoken to the former Ajax boss several times since his hotly-anticipated appointment, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is keen to be part of his plans. However, it’s added in the report that Ronaldo has confided in his close circle that either the Red Devils get on with doing business to back Ten Hag or he’ll be searching for new club ahead of next season amid links of a shock return to Juventus, who he left last summer to sensationally return for a second spell in Manchester.
The Portugal captain is contracted to United for another campaign, having netted 24 goals in 37 appearances last term, leading to him winning the club’s famous Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
Ronaldo has already dished out plenty of his praise for his new manager, notably telling manutd.com : “What I know about him is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he’s an experienced coach. But we need to give him time. Things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.
“We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well. I wish him the best and let’s believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.”
In a separate interview, the ex- Real Madrid talisman added: “I know he did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time. Things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success, of course. Because if you have success all of Manchester is going to have success as well so I wish him the best.”

Ten Hag returned the compliment during his first press conference at Old Trafford in May, too, only needing one word when asked what he wants from the striker: “Goals.”
Prior to officially swapping Amsterdam for Manchester, the 52-year-old also told De Telegraaf, via Goal : “I look forward to working with him. Ronaldo is a giant. Because of what he’s already shown and I think he’s still very ambitious. Of course I’d like to keep him. He has been very important for Man Utd this year [and he] can produce great statistics.”
