Dodgers starting reliever Corey Knebel for Game 1 of NLCS vs. Braves


The Dodgers confirmed that right-handed reliever Corey Knebel will make his second consecutive postseason start. 

Los Angeles made the announcement that Knebel will start against the Braves for Game 1 of the NLDS hours before the first pitch. The reliever is expected to start after he helped cut the Giants’ playoff run short by only allowing one hit in the first inning.

Opening in Atlanta will mark Knebel’s sixth start of the season, including the Game 5 victory against San Francisco. He totaled a 2.45 ERA with 30 strikeouts during the regular season. Going into the matchup, Knebel totals four strikeouts through three postseason appearances.

While Knebel will handle the opening game against the Braves, the Dodgers are allowing Max Scherzer ample time to rest before he is expected to make the Game 2 start. 

Game 1 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and the Braves will start at 8:08 p.m.ET.
