Sophie Ellis-Bextor wows fans with one of her first live gigs since lockdown

Murder On The Dancefloor singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor sent fans into a frenzy when she rocked up in a fridge showroom in London to perform her Kitchen Disco hits

Sophie wowed fans with her performance

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is finally out of her kitchen and performing in public again.

The Strictly Come Dancing star has treated fans to her Kitchen Disco hits from her home throughout lockdown – but is now back in business face-to-face with her fans.

The mother-of-five looked sensational as she treated an excited crowd to a selection of her greatest songs in central London – in an unusual location.

Performing in the SMEG fridge flagship store at an event in conjunction with Diet Coke dubbed Just For The Chill Of It – Sophie sent fans into a frenzy as she emerged from behind a giant fridge.

Dressed in a gorgeous black and white frock sporting a slick of red lipstick, the singer was quite taken aback by the audience’s wild reaction.

She jokingly told the crowd: “I mean this in the best possible way, but I can see you don’t get out much.

“You’re all way too excited to be watching a 42-year-old woman singing.”

Sophie stunned with her cool performance

However the stunning singer appeared to have turned back time as she performed her iconic tracks If This Ain’t Love and Murder On The Dancefloor.

During the spring lockdown last year, Sophie went live on Instagram every Friday evening to try and lift people’s spirits with her ‘Kitchen Disco’.

Her performances were certainly chaotic due to the fact that she was holed up at home with her husband and their five sons, who range in age from one to 16.

Speaking at the SMEG/Diet Coke event she admitted she didn’t associate lockdown with relaxing, but was certainly making up for lost time by getting back on a bigger stage.

In May, Sophie delighted her fans by teasing a new version of her iconic ‘Kitchen Disco’ – from her super stylish bathroom.

The singer even dressed up for the occasion and was wearing none other than one of her striking Strictly Come Dancing gowns.

Sophie is used to performing at home due to lockdown

And in fabulous news for all Sophie’s fans the star will be bringing these shows to life with her Kitchen Disco Tour, starting next year.

Describing her excitement, she said: “During lockdown, our family kitchen discos became a precious time where we could all bop about and be a bit silly.

“It made me feel connected to everyone who joined us and I can honestly say the music was a real tonic which brought sparkly joy to my soul every Friday.

“I want to give everyone a night where just for a little while, we can all lose ourselves under the mirror ball and dance and have fun. Won’t that feel magical?! I CANNOT WAIT!”
