A familiar face on the nation’s TV screens, Zoe Lyons is one of the most popular comedians of the day.
Zoe, 50, was born in Wales, before moving to Ireland, Surrey and finally Glasgow with her family.
It was in Glasgow that she got her first job, which, worlds away from comedy, was in a jam factory.
Zoe left Glasgow to attend the University of York, where she graduated for a degree in psychology in 1992.
She soon decided she wanted to become a performer and went to drama school, before working as a waitress to earn money while auditioning for acting roles.
Zoe’s first big break came on the ITV reality game show Survivor in 2001 when she was one of sixteen contestants to be marooned on an island near Borneo competing to survive as long as possible without being voted off.

It was around the same time that Zoe met her wife Sindy, who is a nurse originally from the Netherlands.
The pair met through mutual friends during a holiday on the Greek island of Lesvos twenty years ago and have been married for fifteen years.
Sindy is fourteen years older than Zoe, and the pair share an adorable pup named Groucho.
Alongside her comedy, an area of her life that Zoe opens up about frequently is her battle with alopecia, a serious health condition that causes hair loss, which Zoe says is triggered for her by stress.
Zoe regularly posts about her journey with the condition on her Instagram page, and revealed that she has been suffering with the condition on and off since the age of eleven but that it has got progressively worse over the past eighteen months.
She also spoke about how she had a wig made this year, which she wears for TV appearances when her alopecia is flaring up badly.
