Why is Buckingham Palace lit up green?

Buckingham Palace has turned green ahead of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Awards which will air on the BBC on Sunday (October 17) at 8pm.

The Queen’s main London residence has thrown its support behind the Duke of Cambridge’s impressive environmental initiative before the winners are announced.

Prince William launched The Earthshot Prize in October 2020 and it is centred around five environmental goals- known as ‘Earthshots’- which, if achieved by 2030, will improve life for everyone.

The award show will welcome hosts such as the Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Watson and Sir David Attenborough, as well as include performances from the likes of Ed Sheeran, KSI and Coldplay.
