If you’re looking to escape the craziness of the capital for a tranquil break, you may think you need to pack up the car or book a pricey train ticket to get out of the city’s hustle and bustle.

But don’t be too quick to leave behind your Oyster Card for your day trip, as you never know what kind of idyllic spots you might find on the Tube line that feel a world away from London.

Chesham, in the Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire is one charming spot which many don’t know has a Tube station and can be easily reached from London.

This pretty market town can be found at the very end of the Metropolitan Line in Zone 9, and will take you an hour and 15 minutes to reach directly from the City of London.

But is it worth the long Tube journey? Or are you better off heading somewhere further afield for your next day out?

Locals would tell you it’s definitely worth the trip, with activities such as the Chesham Moor Open Air Swimming Pool as well as the beautiful Lowndes Park making it a great choice for a relaxing escape.

The town also holds traditional markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays which are perfect to stroll around and sample some local produce.

As well as the Chesham Museum in Bellingdon Road and the great entertainment offered in the Elgiva Theatre, venture 20 minutes from the town and you will find the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre and the Chiltern Open Air Museum.
