London sun to arrive over Bank Holiday – and it’s set to stay for weeks on end

It seems right now like London’s weather will be eternally blighted by frequent thunderstorms and all-too-brief moments of clear skies.

Truly May has been an up and down month, as rising temperatures and damp conditions make riding the Tube feel like stepping into a sauna.

Thankfully, this is set to change soon, with sunshine and high temperatures set to arrive over the bank holiday weekend (I mean, we’re talking over 18 degrees here but still).

According to weather forecast sight Accuweather, which predicts the weather weeks ahead of the BBC and the Met Office, we’re set for sunny weather towards the end of the month.

More rain is expected this month, sadly

The site predicts temperatures of 19 degrees on Saturday, May 29, with “periods of sun and clouds” and by Thursday, June 10 temperatures will finally crack 20 degrees, as a “blend of sun and clouds” graces the capital.

From then on Accuweather predicts mostly sunny or partly cloudy weather, with temperatures hovering around the 20-degree mark for most of the month.

By Wednesday, June 16, the site estimates temperatures will rise to 22 degrees and chances of rain remain low right the way through to the end of the month.

Sadly Londoners can still expect to deal with a fair amount of rain until summer officially starts in June, as rain is still predicted across all forecasters for the next few days.

The ever-pessimistic Apple Weather app is predicting rain until Wednesday, May 26. The BBC predicts “spells of rain” and “unsettled conditions throughout the week.

The Met Office, meanwhile, predicts rainy conditions On Thursday and Friday this week, followed by a cloudy weekend. Saturday, May 22, will see “light showers changing to sunny intervals by late morning”, while Sunday will see “sunny intervals changing to cloudy by lunchtime.”
