There are several things that are quintessentially British – crumpets and tea being on the top of the list.
Now Asda has revamped a classic, giving a new fairytale twist to our favourite breakfast food.
The supermarket giant launched the new bakery item on its Instagram.
Sharing a photo of the buttered crumpets alongside a cup of tea, Asda wrote: “Add some magic to your breakfast. Perfect for kids and big kids alike, these tasty crumpets are far from boring,” accompanied by unicorn and sparkle emojis.
The novelty crumpets are shaped like unicorns, but otherwise are just regular crumpets – not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Shoppers were enthusiastic about the new bake, with one commenting: “These are adorable,” with a heart eyes emoji and a unicorn emoji.
Another added “Love these!”, and countless more tagged their mates to share the news of the crumpets.
But one commenter pointed out something hilarious.
“Why do crumpets taste even more lush when they’re a novelty shape? Even the toaster square ones do it for me, mind you I’m easily pleased,” one person quipped.
The Asda unicorn crumpets cost only £1 for a pack of four, and are a great breakfast food.

They aren’t the most unhealthy snack either, with each crumpet containing less than 0.1 grams of saturated fat when grilled, and only 1.3 grams of sugar.
The shop recommend having them with jam, and say: “Tasty any time of the day. Top with our raspberry jam for a magically tasty breakfast.”
Other popular toppings for crumpets include honey, lemon curd, or just plain butter.
And of course, don’t forget to have them with a cup of tea.
While the taste of the crumpets may or may not have anything to do with their shape, these treats are available from Asda now.
