Leicester are closing in on a £45million double swoop for Boubakary Soumare and Patson Daka as they target “winners”.
Brendan Rodgers is starting his summer rebuild with the £22m signing of Lille’s French title-winning midfielder Soumare.
The FA Cup winners have also agreed a £23m fee for Red Bull Salzburg striker Daka, who has also just won the league.
Leicester waved farewell this summer to Wes Morgan, 37, Christian Fuchs, 35, and Matty James, aged 29.
Boss Rodgers stated his intention to bring in signings with “a mentality of winning”.
Rodgers hopes it could make the difference after missing out on the top four on the final day for successive seasons.
First through the door at the Foxes is expected to be Frenchman Soumare, 22, who helped Lille cause a huge shock by beating Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title.
But Zambian international Daka,22, is expected to follow him from Austria.
The forward scored a stunning 27 goals in 28 Austrian Bundesliga games for the champions.
Rodgers wants more firepower up top to complement Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Foxes were heavily linked with a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard but have prioritised Daka.
Rodgers could be set to lose midfield maestro Youri Tielemans, who has been linked with replacing Gini Wijnaldum at Liverpool.
But the 24-year-old, who’s currently starring with Belgium at the Euros, responded to the transfer comments in the best possible way.
“That’s really none of my business right now. Let the journalists speak. They undoubtedly have a lot to do with that,” he said.
“But I don’t care about that. All I can do is make sure that I am as good as possible on the pitch.
He added: “I don’t think about it. I am focusing on the Euros.
“I don’t listen to transfer rumours. No matter how much I am valued, it doesn’t change anything for me. I just want to make the best Euros I can.”
