Britney Spears has spoken out strongly in a Los Angeles court as she took to the stand remotely in a bid to remove her dad from her ‘abusive’ conservatorship
Britney Spears has urged a judge to remove her father from her conservatorship saying she wants to be “free”.
The battle over her estate, which is worth over £40 million, has been going on since August, when her attorney filed to remove her father Jamie as a conservator.
Under the current ruling, Jamie, 68, is in control of his 39-year-old daughter’s financial and business decisions.
And the Baby One More Time singer made a string of comments as she spoke directly to Superior Judge Brenda Penny about her life under the restrictions of the conservatorship.
She told the Judge how she was made to feel “like I was dead” last time she spoke to the court and insisted she deserves changes.
She emotionally revealed that “it’s a lie saying I’m happy” and confessed that she is “traumatised”.
As the singer put her points across, members of the public rallied outside the Los Angeles court room in a show of solidarity for the singer.

Fans launched the #FreeBritney campaign to support the singer’s long held belief that she should be freed of her father’s control and took to the streets to show their continued togetherness.
And they would have been shocked by what their idol had to say as she appeared in court via audio link.
Wants to sue her family
Britney called for her father to “be in jail” for the part he as played in the conservatorship.
And she confessed that the trauma caused during the whole trauma has led to her wanting to sue her own family for standing by him.
She said: “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management … they should be in jail.
“I’ve told the world I’m happy and OK. I lied. I am not happy, I can’t sleep. I’m so angry, it’s insane. And I’m depressed.”
She continued: “Ma’am, I am not here to be anyone’s slave. I can say no to a dance move.”
“I just want my life back. It’s enough,” she later announced.
‘Forced onto contraception’
Britney also said that her team had forced her onto contraception as she felt they didn’t want her to have any more children.
She also alleged that she was banned from getting married.
The star said: “I want to be able to get married and have a baby.
“I have an IUD inside of myself so that I don’t get pregnant, but [my team doesn’t] want me to have any more children.”
Britney is currently in a relationship with Sam Asghari. The 27-year-old personal trainer posted a selfie earlier in the day of him wearing a “Free Britney” t-shirt.
Comparing herself to sex trafficking victim
Britney claimed that the closest thing to her conservatorship was sex trafficking.
The singer told the judge: “In California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking, making anyone work against their will, taking all their possessions away, credit card, cash, phone, passport.”
‘On medication for eight years’
Britney claimed in court that she had been put on lithium against her will.
She described: “It’s a strong drug. You can go mentally impaired if you stay on it longer than five months. I felt drunk, I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad about anything. They had me with six different nurses.”
Lithium is well known to be treated for bipolar disorder. The disorder can often cause episodes of depression and mania and can lead to a feeling of uncontrolled irritability or excitement.
The drug can also be used to treat depression.
In court, Britney didn’t disclose any possible medical condition for her to be on the drug.
‘Forced to tour in 2018’
The Toxic singer claimed that she “needed a break” from performing but her pleas to take a step back were ignored and instead she was forced to carry on with her Las Vegas tour.
Britney alleged that she was “handed paperwork when she got off stage in Vegas” and said “out of fear I did that tour”.
The star has recently said she has “no idea” if she will ever return to the stage in a short question and answer session on Instagram.
Her dad Jamie did share a short statement during the case in which he said he “misses his daughter” and was “sorry to see his daughter in so much pain”.
