Manchester City ’s transfer activity is hotting up as we enter July.
Coming off the back of a third Premier League title in four years, Pep Guardiola is still looking to improve his squad after they failed to make it count on the European stage, losing the Champions League final to Chelsea.
Names such as Harry Kane, Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland and even Lionel Messi have been linked with moves to the Etihad but it is not just who could be coming in that has supporters speculating.
With the Citizens being one of the world’s best sides, interest in their own players is no surprise, and in order to recoup the kind of cash that would fund moves for the aforementioned names, sales are inevitable.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest transfer news from the Etihad Stadium.
No Nou Camp move for Laporte
According to reports in Spain, defender Aymeric Laporte will not be joining Barcelona this summer.
The recently-turned Spain international had been linked with a move to Catalonia, which would have made him the second centre-back to move from east Manchester to the Nou Camp following Eric Garcia’s departure.
Barca are reportedly still monitoring the duo, though, who could make the switch at another time.
Championship boss admits Delap interest
Millwall manager Gary Rowett says there is plenty of interest from the English second tier in Liam Delap.
The 18-year-old, son of former Stoke City cult hero Rory, has bagged 24 goals in 22 Premier League 2 matches.
That has made him “the best young striker around” according to Rowett, who admitted the Championship interest when speaking to the South London Press.
“Rory is a good friend of mine and he worked with me. I know the family really well,” he revealed.
“Liam Delap, quite simply, is the best young striker around at the moment and every single Championship club, I’m sure, would be interested in taking him.”
Should City loan Delap out next season? Comment below.
“Of course we’d be interested. But, at the same time, I’m sure everyone would be interested in him.”
Delap was often included in matchday squads during the 2020-21 season and scored his first senior strike in September of last year.
City ‘keeping tabs’ on young Dane
Danish outlet BT claim that the Citizens are interested in a young Danish prodigy.
The talent in question is Midtjylland winger Gustav Isaksen, who is said to have been the subject of a Sky Blues bid.
At 20, Isaksen racked up 36 first-team appearances since breaking through at the Superligaen side in 2019, becoming a hot property in Denmark.
Translated by InsideFutbol , BT report that City tried and failed to sign the Midtjylland academy product but are keeping tabs on his progress, and have not ruled out another bid.
