Amazon Prime’s TV adaptation of Nine Perfect Strangers is based on The New York Times best-selling book by author Liane Moriarty, which takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation. While the adaption itself has been met with mixed reviews, there’s one thing we can all agree on: Tranquillum House is absolutely stunning.
So, we were pretty excited to learn that the actual Byron Bay resort where Nine Perfect Strangers was filmed is actually available to rent on Airbnb. One tiny fly in the wine though: you’re going to need £3,635 if you’re looking to spend a night there. Yep, just *one* night.
If you’re tempted to empty your savings account to head to Tranquillum House, we don’t blame you. The wellness retreat is actually called Soma, and is surrounded by 22 acres of rainforest in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
Soma sleeps 16, so tell the girls in the group chat to pack their bags now. With 16 people heading to the luxurious retreat, if the costs were split that would only set each person back just under £250. Slightly less eye-watering, right?
Soma features a stunning freshwater pool, relaxing yoga dome, custom-made Zen garden, an infrared sauna and magnesium ice bath. Basically, it’s the perfect luxe getaway if you’ve got some cash to flash.
In Nine Perfect Strangers, the story centres around nine people who head to California-based wellness retreat Tranquillum House. The woman who runs the retreat, Masha (played by Nicole Kidman), turns out to be a little sinister and the entire experience is very different to what the participants were expecting. Expecting “total transformation” after a 10-day stay at the retreat, the guests fall under the spell of Masha and things take an eerie turn. Alongside Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall and Bobby Cannavale also star in the show. We’re totally hooked, so if you’re looking for something to binge-watch this weekend, look no further.
