He acquired a stake in Aviation American Gin in February 2018 and in November 2020 he bought Wrexham FC with Rob McElhenney. Now, Ryan Reynolds is combining his two favourite things to celebrate the club’s first win of the season.

Taking to social media, Ryan and Rob, both 44, shared their joy at Wrexham AFC beating Eastleigh 2-0 and registering their first National League win.

In a video on Rob’s TikTok, the pair clink glasses and sip cocktails, wearing their club’s shirts.

The party seems to have started early, with the video’s caption reading: ‘POV of two guys drinking at 9am to celebrate their first win,’ but when you’re Hollywood stars who buy a football club just because, an AM cocktail seems justified.

The Deadpool actor opened up about his decision to buy Wrexham AFC to This Morning in March, saying he was ‘super excited’ about his latest business venture.

‘It seemed like an interesting proposition. We were looking at a bunch of different teams and the thing for me that really struck a chord about Wrexham was how intrinsically tied communities are to their football club,’ he said.

‘It’s a more all encompassing project with Wrexham, their supporters, their community, and taking them back into the English Football League. That is our goal and our hope.’

Ryan, who is currently starring in Free Guy, and Game of Thrones star Rob invested £2m in the previously fan-owned club.

Captain Shaun Pearson said ‘no one could believe it’ when the duo were revealed as the new owners.

During the pandemic, all of Wrexham’s players were furloughed, but they seem to be better than ever now they’re back on the pitch, and we’ll drink to that.
