Gerard Butler SHADES Ryan Reynolds by saying he ‘doesn’t watch’ his movies… but Canadian actor takes the high road by revealing big charitable donation

Leonidas and Detective Pikachu are feuding.

Gerard Butler threw some shade Ryan Reynolds’ way during a recent interview but the Canadian actor decided to take the high road and focus on more charitable causes.

It all began when the 51-year-old Scottish action man was asked about comparisons between his 2009 film Gamer and 44-year-old Ryan’s recently released Free Guy.

As many have discussed the parallels between the two films due to them both having the premise centering around a virtual reality video game, Gerard was asked in an interview with UNILAD about the similarities as he responded: ‘I actually don’t know what Free Guy is.’

Reporter Cameron Frew noted that the actor giggled before co-star Alexis Louder told him it was a Reynolds movie before Butler added: ‘Oh sh*t is it… I don’t watch Ryan Reynolds movies.’

Reynolds took it all in stride as he responded to the comment while revealing a donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and ACLU.

The Canadian actor posted a screenshot of an article about Butler’s shady comment along with his tweet about his charitable cause on Instagram Tuesday.

He captioned the snap to his 39million followers: ‘Can you believe Gerard Butler doesn’t know what Free Guy is?

‘Also, can you believe that the challenges to democracy have never been greater and that Blake and I will match your contributions to the @aclu_nationwide and @naacp_ldf?’

In true Reynolds fashion, he ended the post with a joke writing: ‘*Order of these questions optimized for the Internet, NOT importance.’

The synopsis for Butler’s 2009 flick Gamer read: ‘In a future mind-controlling game, death row convicts are forced to battle in a ‘Doom’-type environment. Convict Kable, controlled by Simon, a skilled teenage gamer, must survive thirty sessions in order to be set free.’

Free Guy is centered around ‘a bank teller discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game.’
