Gene Simmons has become the latest member of his band Kiss to test positive for Covid-19.

The 72-year-old is said to be experiencing mild symptoms after being struck down with the virus. It comes just days after his bandmate, Paul Stanley, announced he had tested positive for coronavirus and was self-isolating.

It means the band will have to push back their next four scheduled North American tour dates.

Announcing Gene’s illness, a statement shared on Kiss’ social media accounts said on Tuesday: ‘Kiss will postpone their next four tour dates.

‘While Paul Stanley recently tweeted that he has recovered from Covid, Gene Simmons has now tested positive and is experiencing mild symptoms.

‘The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA.’

They added: ‘All previously purchased tickets will be honoured for the new dates once announced.’

The postponed shows were set to take place at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan; Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio; Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois; and American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

On August 26, Stanley announced he had fallen ill and was no longer able to perform.

He told his Twitter followers: ‘I had been sick with flu-like symptoms and was tested repeatedly and was negative. As of late this afternoon I tested positive. The crew, staff and band have all tested negative once again.’

‘Some really rough days behind and hopefully just a few more ahead. Then… I’M COMIN’ OUT THERE TO SEE YOU!!!!’ the rocker later added.

Sharing an update with fans just hours before Gene’s positive diagnosis was revealed, Stanley said: ‘My COVID symptoms were MILD compared to many others and let me tell you… It kicked my ass. It’s over now.’
